Stereotype buster

People had told me that everyone at the university will be talking on cell phones and texting all the time. Today's walkabout revealed very little electronic connecting. Most of the kids I saw today appeared to be in the moment: talking with friends, getting to class, or simply enjoying the beautiful afternoon.

In another rebuttal of conventional wisdom, I've seen no one texting during lectures, and no cell phones have gone off in class.

As a matter of fact, I've seen way more people habitually talking on cell phones in the workplace and in the supermarket than I have in my daily college life.

Strange, but true.
